Accessories
Accessories range from strings to amps. We try to carry those items which are going to serve you well. While there are going to be alternate items, the items we carry have shown themselves to be the best alternative we have found. Contact us to find out more.
Amps:
We carry the Acoustic Image line of amps and we are the authorized dealer for that brand in our area. We stock several items that directly relate to the bass such as the Coda and Contra models of combination amp and speakers along with carrying cases. And, we can assist you in getting the entire line of Acoustic Image amps as well help you in the servicing if and when that may be needed. We encourage you to log on to their website acousticimg.com for a complete description of their products and services.Pick-ups:
The pick-ups we carry have undergone a very high level of testing and tryouts for application methods. These are the pick-ups which have passed our exams.
B-Band- -These are electrostatic transducer pick-ups which have three contacts that go into an on board preamp. That means they are active low impedance pick-ups. They can be adjusted to mix the body and the bridge sound to the taste of the player. The sound produced is very clean and transparent rather than altered from the real sound of the bass, that is " electric". The down-side of this pick-up is that it is not easy or quick to attach. The instructions are very good but I would prefer to assist you whenever possible.
Schatten Design- -These are piezo transducer pick-ups which are relatively good at reproducing the real sound of the bass. These are made in the active(on board pre-amp) and the passive. The up-side of these amps is they are very easy to attach, the mounting application does not detract from the normal sound production of the bass, and they are inexpensive.Strings:
Strings are one of the items which players end up buying and they are usually settling for less than they would like. "They sound good under the bow but not when they are plucked." "they are too stiff,- - too soft, - - too quiet-- - roll under the fingers- - - not even in volume." "This one sounds different." And often the player ends up choosing by price alone and remains unhappy. Symphony players have the benefit of having the rest of the players in their section to be able to recommend what works for them, however- - -none of the other players has exactly the same bass and basses are as different as the trees from which they are made. Furthermore, you are looking for a sound no one but you can hear. So, the best you can do is compromise. However, if you decide what is most important to you and rank your categories accordingly you can become happier with your compromise.- sound --bowed plucked

We carry several brands of strings, each with different characteristics that address the varying needs of the basses, the player, and the type of music to be played. We do not carry all kinds but we try to attend to the needs of those we meet.
We stock rosin, quivers, bows(French and German) and lots of other things I can not think of at the moment. Give us a call and tell us what you need and if we can, we will be glad to help.
